Pack Raft Australia’s Recommendation
The NRS Nomad semi-drysuit is a smart alternative to a full drysuit—delivering GORE-TEX Pro waterproof performance at a more approachable price. With integrated socks, YKK® waterproof zippers and durable construction, it’s built for serious time on the water.
Instead of a tight latex neck gasket, the Nomad uses a comfortable volcano-style neoprene neck. It’s ideal for paddlers in light to moderate whitewater, anglers or hunters who want to stay warm and dry without the restriction of a full drysuit collar.
Stepping up from a wetsuit? The Nomad offers near-drysuit performance with extra comfort—making a premium GORE-TEX Pro suit far more achievable.
Use Cases & Performance
This semi-dry suit is ideal for:
Cold water paddling, fishing, packrafting, and touring where occasional splash or spray is expected
Conditions where full drysuit neck latex seals feel too restrictive
Paddlers who want a step-up from wetsuit / drytop setups without the bulk of a full drysuit
Note: It is called a “semi-dry suit” because it uses a neoprene neck rather than a latex gasket. In many paddling scenarios (especially where immersion is not extreme), offers the same level of performance as “drysuits”. .

Sizing & Fit Tips
Measure chest, waist, hips, and inseam (in your street clothes / base layers)
If a measurement falls between sizes, prioritize hip measurement first, then chest
The suit is somewhat relaxed to allow layering underneath
Tips for taking accurate measurements:
It’s best to have a friend or family member do the measuring.
Use a cloth measuring tape. If you don’t have one, use a cord and transfer that to a tape measure.
Measure in your street clothes; we size technical outerwear pieces like drysuits and dry tops to include room for layering underneath.
Stand up straight and relax.
Suggestions on sizing when your measurements cross into different size categories:
In looser fitting garments like drysuits, splash jackets, etc., look first at the hip measurement, then at the chest, bust and waist for a tiebreaker.
Remember, the NRS sizing charts reflect your body measurements, not the measurements of the garment itself.

-
It’s a semi-dry / paddling suit design. It doesn’t use a tight latex neck gasket, so it's more comfortable, though in extreme immersion you might get some water ingress at the neck.
-
Yes for mild to moderate-level whitewater, but for very aggressive use you might prefer a full drysuit with tight fitting rubber latex neck gasket.
-
Use moisture-wicking base layers like marino thermals along with fleece or synthetic mid-layers depending on temperature. Avoid cotton.
