Pack Raft Australia is stoaked on Alpacka Raft’s newest packraft design, The Mage. This packraft draws numerous decades of Alpacka Raft’s design input and interactions, culminating in a super fun, responsive and revolutionary packraft design. The newly designed outfitting of the Self Bailing seat/floor system, improves overall speed, manoeuvrability and function of the packraft, allowing effortless edging, carving, wave riding and booking, all with added control and ability. The PRA team has now had hands on paddling experience with this boat, and found the learning curve short, intuitive and rewarding from the first river run. If you’ve been paddling a Gnarwhal or Wolverine self bailer, you will enjoy the added ability and performance of The Mage and won’t feel like you’re paddling anything too unfamiliar, and you’ll easily adjust to the improved handling and boat dynamics within the first hour or two on the water.

The new boat includes design improvements/tweeks of the much loved Wolverine/Gnarwhal, with the addition of performance inspiration taken from the Valkyrie V3 design and shape. PRA highly recommends The Mage as the new gold standard for a fun, comfortable and capable Whitewater focused Self Bailing packraft. New Recommended Sizing as follows (sizing replaces Alpacka Raft’s previous “Sit Length” sizing method):

• Small - Under 5’7”

• Medium - 5’6” - 5’11”

• Large - 5’9” - 6’2”

• X-Large - 6’ - 6’5”

Weight

The Mage is recommended for paddlers up to 104kg’s. Larger paddlers should consider the Gnarwhal. Cargo weight recommendations are 9-14lbs for maximum whitewater performance, 22kgs for moderate whitewater, and up to 45kgs on extended trips on large rivers like a North American Grand Canyon trip.
